Method and sources

Quebec. Retailers must report prices to the Régie de l'énergie (section 67.1 of Quebec's Petroleum Products Act) since April 1, 2026. The public file is regenerated every five minutes; Jauge reads it and rebuilds the pages.

Ontario. The Ministry of Energy's weekly fuels price survey, Monday-dated, history to 1990, Open Government Licence – Ontario. Toronto combines the survey's West and East markets.

Other provinces. Statistics Canada Table 18-10-0001-01, monthly averages by city, Open Licence. They lag the month by about three weeks.

Atlantic Canada. Maximum (and, in PEI, minimum) prices set by each province's regulator, read from their public schedules.

Tomorrow signal. Three-session change in RBOB gasoline futures converted to Canadian cents per litre, tested on 889 weekdays of Quebec data. Quotes come from Yahoo Finance, an unofficial source used for the calculation only.

What we do not do. No crowdsourced prices, no estimates presented as station prices, and every figure carries its source type and date.
